4 measures to prevent pollen from being brought into the house

The long winter is coming to an end and we are starting to enjoy warmer days.
As the temperature rises, hay fever is a concern.

It is said that one out of every four people suffers from hay fever, and it is no exaggeration to say that it is a national disease.

When it comes to hay fever countermeasures, many people probably imagine masks and glasses, etc.
Of course, it is important to take measures against pollen when you go out, but it is also important not to bring pollen into your home!

So, here are 4 measures to prevent pollen from being brought into your home!

Remove pollen from clothes and hair at the door.

When you return home, first remove pollen from your clothes and hair at the door before going indoors. A surprisingly large amount of wind-driven pollen sticks to your clothes while you are out, but a quick dusting will reduce the amount of pollen before you enter the house. The key to brushing off pollen is to do so gently from the top of your body downwards. There are also brushes available for removing pollen, so brushing is also recommended.

Shower and change clothes as soon as you get home to shut out pollen.

When you enter your room, you may be tempted to sit on the sofa and relax. But resist the urge and take a shower right away to wash off any pollen that may have been on your body when you left your room.

By taking a shower as soon as possible, you can remove pollen from your body and reduce the amount of pollen brought into your room. Furthermore, changing into clean loungewear will prevent the spread of pollen in the room.

Ensure that laundry is dried indoors.

It is best to avoid hanging laundry outside when pollen is flying. Pollen is not noticeable, but it adheres to clothes and towels in large quantities after hanging them out to dry for a long time. Taking them inside can cause a large amount of pollen to be brought into the house. By drying your clothes indoors, you can greatly reduce the risk of pollen sticking to them.

A futon that has been dried in the sun is nice and fluffy. However, bedding with pollen on it can cause direct, up-close inhalation of pollen during sleep, which can aggravate nose and throat symptoms. During periods of high pollen counts, it is also advisable to refrain from airing bedding outdoors.

Use anti-static spray when going outside.

Another effective way to reduce the amount of pollen adhering to clothing is to use an anti-static spray. Pollen easily adheres to clothing due to static electricity. Pollen is also electrically charged, so the greater the amount of pollen, the greater the friction, and the more likely it is to generate static electricity.

Anti-static spray is an item that can reduce the occurrence of such troublesome static electricity. You can sprinkle it over the entire garment, but we recommend spraying it carefully on areas where fabrics rub against each other, such as cuffs and areas where bags come in contact with each other.

If you have pollen in your home

-Clean frequently
-Use air purifiers
-Vary ventilation times

and other measures.

For cleaning, we recommend that you spray with water and then vacuum to prevent pollen from flying around. Fabric products should be cleaned frequently with adhesive tape.
Ventilation should be done at night, avoiding the hours around 12:00 noon and 16:00 in the evening, when pollen is most likely to fly. When ventilating, it is also recommended to cover windows with lace curtains or roll screens to block pollen from entering.
